Option to mark games as unplayed (MAs)

When a game doesn't need to be played in a round robin ((ie 3 teams have qualified to advance so only one game in the last draw needs to be played) it would be nice to have the option of "not played" along with won, lost, conceded. The game would then show just "X" in each end for both teams and viewers would understand that the game wasn't played rather than there just being blank boxes and us getting texts and emails and calls wondering what is going on in the game with no scores.
Since MAs have no need of ties, the "Tied" option can be replayed with an "Unplayed" option. "Unplayed" doesn't need to appear in the stats / standings.

MAs can now mark games as "Unnecessary" as long as there are not any non-zero scores recorded for them yet.

Robyn Mattie is this something that Curling Canada will use, or is this "Unplayed" option only relevant to some of the MAs? I don't want to add more buttons to the scoring interface for organizations that won't use them. Instead I can just target orgs that will use it.

I'm looking at old feature requests post-migration (legacy -> v2), and this is one of those that is much simpler to implement now. Please respond / vote if this is something people are interested in. You can currently mark as game as tied an leave the ends blank to show Xs across the board, but I'm not sure if this is good enough?

Dave Rapin I think this would still be good to have added. Curl PEI has many unplayed games because of the formats we use.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan OK, and you never have ties right? So instead of a "Tie" option, you could have an "Unplayed" option?

Amy Duncan
Dave Rapin I cannot think of a time we would have a tie in competitive event however there may be ties in a club event.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan yes but as far as I can tell, clubs don't have a need to mark games as unplayed. So I'm thinking that for MAs the "Tied" option could simply be called "Unplayed".

Dave Rapin that makes sense.

Amy Duncan: I worry that calling this "Unplayed" might confuse some scorers into thinking it means "Not yet played" and use it as a way to mark a game as not having started yet if they mistakenly started scoring it (this happens). Is there any other short name you can think of for this that wouldn't be confusing? Basically we're saying the game will NEVER be played right? "Uncounted"? "No Result"?

Dave Rapin Not Required is what I currently use. When I set up the event I have some games that have *If required. If they are not required I will either delete the game or write "not required" in the title.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan OK I like that better.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan I'm not convinced this needs to be on the score capture. Shouldn't this be setup on the round robin's games in the stages tab instead? See attached.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan instead of "not required", wouldn't "optional" be a better word to use?

Dave Rapin for my situations in the score capture it would make more sense so mt scorekeeper can update it easily. Mine would also happen more so in playoffs, not round robin.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan Oh interesting. I thought this was purely to punt on extra round robin games, but that makes sense. For naming the button (It's going to go in the row with Won, Lost, Forfeited, TBD), how about "Unnecessary"?

Dave Rapin Unnecessary works for me.
Dave Rapin
Amy Duncan And once scores have been entered, the option to select "Unnecessary" can go away I assume.

Understood. Some what related is the ability to mark a game as a draw, which is needed at a club level where they can have ties.

Dave Rapin: The solution right now is that I (or the person who has created the event) can just delete the game, now that I know to do the delete/save function. But it would be better if the person doing the online scores at the event could just mark it as unplayed. (x in each box)
