I have up to 3 levels for some of our items: 1) Chart of Account Number, 2) Class and 3) Project being able to label each item at set up would make bookkeeping so much easier later.

Amy Duncan In your case, are codes different for different events, or is it just one code to represent all competitions, one code to represent all fees, etc.?
Amy Duncan
Dave Rapin the first codes is the same but the second (and 3rd) are different.

Amy Duncan And these represent different accounts / buckets / ledger in QuickBooks? Can you provide me with a list (or partial list) if it's not sensitive data? (you can send it to me direct).

I think this might tie in nicely with our QBO integration. Definitely worth while.
We will want all purchasable / registerable items to support an optional GL (General Ledger) code. So events, programs, products, fees, and venues.
We will want to include these GL Codes in our order item based reports and the payout report.

OK I'll close this for now. We'll see if it ever comes up again.

New management no longer needs this. The idea was that we could assign GL accounts to items so that when we ran an order item report we could easily report on revenues by GL account.
Doesn't need to be a custom field. Could be a non-mandatory attribute of an Order Item.
But, as mentioned, if no one else has supported this request then I suppose it isn't required.
Thanks for following up.

Custom field wouldn't work because you don't want to ask the member right? You just want it to pre-fill based on some logic? Can you be more specific about what it is and how you'd like to fill it?
