Add Curling Alberta "Secondary Role" to profile
complete
Douglas Moore
Curling Alberta requires clubs to collect "Secondary Role" data. A drop down would work, showing: 1. Able-Bodied 2. Stick Curler 3. Wheelchair Curler 4. Blind Curler 5. Deaf Curler
Dave Rapin
Curling Club Development: Do you have anyone who can provide french translations for the following Bobby? I tried google translate, but they didn't seem too great and potentially offensive. E.g. "Able-bodied" translated to "valide".
- Type of curler
- Able-bodied
- Stick curler
- Wheelchair curler
- Blind curler
- Deaf curler
- Select whether you are an able-bodied, a stick curler, wheelchair curler, blind curler or deaf curler.

This is complete and live. We're still waiting on better french translations, but we can tweak those later.

Dave Rapin: Perfect, thank you Dave!

britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: Please note, this field is not enabled by default, but it is available to all clubs if they choose to enable it using: https://curling.io/docs/club-management/profile-fields

This is a great addition. Thanks for checking in with us. Please frame the question as 'Are you able-bodied, a stick curler, wheelchair curler, blind curler or deaf curler?' and then a drop down with all of those options.
Thanks!
Dave Rapin
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: The label for the field should only be a couple words. We can add all of this text into the hint though if you like. So three things I need are: (1) The exact label for the field (the question), (2) The exact values in the dropdown (with french versions if you have that), and (3) The hint text that goes below the field. See attached image as an example of label, dropdown, and hint.

britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca
Dave Rapin: Can we please see (1) "Type of Curler" for the field (2) "Able-bodied, Stick Curler, Wheelchair curler, Blind Curler, Deaf Curler" as drop downs (3) 'Select whether you are an able-bodied, a stick curler, wheelchair curler, blind curler or deaf curler?' as the hint
Dave Rapin
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: Yup perfect. I'll let you know when it's live.

britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: Can you provide french versions of the label, values, and hint text please?
b
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca
Dave Rapin: We don't typically include the French version on our registrations (to my knowledge). Going off of Google translate - (1) Type de curleur (2) curleur valide, curleurs à bâtons, curleurs en fauteuil roulant, curleurs aveugles, curleurs sourds (3) Choisissez si vous êtes un curleur valide, un curleur à bâtons, un curleur en fauteuil roulant, un curleur aveugle ou un curleur sourd.
Dave Rapin
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: Understood, but as a national bilingual platform we need to. I also ran them through Google translate already :) I'm not sure they are appropriate translations though.
b
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca
Dave Rapin: I will see if anyone on my team speaks french to comfirm the translation but I don't think we have anyone that can. Would you mind running it by Aubert?
Dave Rapin
britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca: I've asked Bobby. I assume CCA has someone that handles their translations.

Dave Rapin: Awesome, thank you!

britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca Bobby Ray vicki.baird@curlingalberta.ca Douglas is suggesting a new field being added to curler profiles to capture their "Secondary Role". Please review his suggestion and the available options and let me know if this looks good or if you need to make any changes. It's important we get this exactly right before we add it, or we'll need to do retroactive gymnastics to fix it down the road.
Curling Club Development
Dave Rapin: happy to support the decision of britney.andersen@curlingalberta.ca and vicki.baird@curlingalberta.ca
They would know more than me on this one. Thank!

OK thanks. This is doable with the new feature (so only AB clubs can choose to include it), but I'd like to get Curl AB and CCA input on this before we proceed.
